THE VAMPIRE BAT Sister Lilhy has Azrael and Brian Bryan track down a bat statute that once belonged to the Order of St. Dumas. In San Francisco, Jean-Paul meets with Mr. Wrail to try and buy it, but he refuses to sell. Jean-Paul goes back as Azrael to steal it, only to fall into a pit while fighting Wrail's security. Wrail threatens him with an experimental "security laser" that can cut through steel. Wrail's speech is cut off when Catwoman sneaks up on him and takes out him and his security. She pulls Azrael up with her whip. Catwoman takes Azrael back to his hotel and patches him up. She is also after the crystal bat, but she agrees to help him for $100,000 instead. Catwoman goes back to Wrail's mansion as "Serena Riley." He drugs her while they're speaking, however, and she falls unconscious and gets tied up by his men. Azrael is woken from his nap by one of Wrail's men, who stole the bat himself and hoped to sell. Others followed him, however, and he is shot dead. Wrail calls Azrael, offering to exchange the bat for Catwoman. They meet at Golden Gate Park. Wrail and his men ambush Azrael, but he is able to fight them off and throws the crystal bat into the path of the laser. Wrail is devastated at the statue's destruction, while Azrael unties Catwoman.
